My Full Belly

Barcelona: the home of many glorious things, including of course, an amazing seafood buffet.
Today is our 7th and final day in Barthelona. It still boggles my mind that I can make my way through the narrow maze of streets only to find myself staring at the sea. In front of me, a stretch of soft brown sand acts as the doorstep to the Mediterranean sea sparkling with its hidden secrets. Behind me, the hustle and bustle of the city still roars with life. It's wild that my Calendar reads December, yet there is sand beneath my toes and my cheeks kissed by the sun.

Nick and I hit Barcelona in this past week like it was going out of style. We saw sights, we drank beers, we even had a pancake party (with REAL CANADIAN maple syrup!). We have slept in the houses of strangers and even made a few friends along the way. We mastered the metro and ordered more coffee's than one should have. We read, we napped, we went to a Spanish house party. We even went ROLLARBLADING! (One of our hosts lent us both Rollarblades from his sports store. Adorned with protective gear and dorky smiles we hit the boardwalk and had a hell of a time) Ruben, the rollarblade guy, also introduced to WoK Oishi, a Japanese all-you-can-eat buffet. Now this is the second mention of this place because it was, well, amazing. Here we feasted like kings and queens. There was a sushi bar, a "cooked food bar" (think spring rolls and french fries), a salad bar (complete with oysters, escargot and even marinated eggplant!). For dessert, an icecream bar with at least eight flavours. Fresh exotic fruits, assorted candy and a multitude of cake. Most remarkable though, was the bed of ice featuring an array of raw meats and fresh seafood. You load a plate, set it on the counter and a happy Japenese man cooks it for you right in front of your eyes. We have eaten there two days in a row. Now I think I am going to have a Sushi Baby. Tomorrow we catch a ride with the beautiful Marta towards Montpellier, France, to see my good bud Tarek and to leave our footprints on another city's sidewalks. My heart is full, just like my belly.
