A Surprise Along the Way

Today, we battled the elements: Full on wind with a bit of sleeting rain. My mittens up and left me a few days back, so I armed myself with socks. In theory this was a great idea, as my hands were toasty warm. Unfortunately after wearing them for a few hours I ended up with stinky feet-hands, perhaps not the greatest afterall. We followed a huge rainbow the entire day as well, which was nice.

En route today, we stumbled upon the most curious of places. Out in the middle of nowhere was a decrepit building, falling apart at the seams. This is not such a strange sight here in Spain with its old history... but what was hiding INSIDE this building made me smile. "Ola," a friendly voice calls, and we are greeted by a long-haired spanish man raking up wet mud from the make-shift floor. Not only this, but there is a lovely cart, decorated with bright red hearts and a plethora of treats available for us! Oh it was like heaven! In the midst of an otherwise drab day, we found ourselves sitting on brightly covered cushions while a strange man carried on with his work as we sipped on juice and nibbled cookies. Wonderful.

Tomorrow, we start to climb another mountain, but first Nick has to buy new boots.
