tentacles and complications

The sun has been shining solidly for two whole days and my spirits are soaring! Yesterday we stopped at town famous for its Pulpo. This, by the way, is OCTOPUS! We stopped at a "Pulperia" and the waitress promptly poured us two beers, brought out the usual basket of white bread and then continued to prepare our pulpo. I was a little nervous, having never eaten a thing like this before: but mostly intrigued. We look behind the counter and there are 2 massive pots of water boiling with creatures inside. The Spanish woman grabs an octopus without hesitation, a little snip here and little snip there, a splash of oil, salt and paprika... VOILA! Pulpo. It was served in tiny cut up pieces and toothpicks to pick each piece up. It was unbelievable! I enjoyed it very much (pushing aside the fact that it was a whole octopus mere minutes ago after being boiled alive and cut up for my belly).

We are currently staying at an empty albergue (which is surprising). There are many more people joining on the Camino for this last stretch - so places tend to be crowded. Luckily we have this whole place to ourselves... though its still a bit early, so other pilgrams may be on their way yet! We ran into some complications with our post-pilgrammage plans. We had arranged to head south for a WWOOFing placement with a woman named Tina. Unfortunately good ol' tina didn't pull through and cancelled on us this week. We have a bunch of different options to choose from, but we still haven't decided our next move. Because we aren't pressed for time anymore - we are dragging out this last bit of the camino. Our walking time is shorter now (averaging only about 15-20kms a day) but it gives us more time to relax and enjoy Spain.

Only TWO more days to Santiago!! Yippeee!
